Larry Wilson Scholarship for Undergraduate Civil Engineering Students & Guidelines
The Arkansas Environmental Federation, a business group with about 350 member companies, has provided more than $59,000 in scholarship awards to 34 students since 1992. The association awards the scholarships to assist students who intend to pursue business and or education careers, specifically those that will address the regulatory concerns of industry with regard to sound science legislation and conservation and stewardship of Arkansas' environment.
The AEF offers three scholarships each spring: the Randall Mathis Scholarship for Environmental Studies, the Larry Wilson Scholarship for Environmental Studies and the Larry Wilson Scholarship for Undergraduate Civil Engineering Students. Each scholarship is worth $2,500. Scholarship applications are typically avaliable from October through February.
The scholarships are named in honor of Randall Mathis of Arkadelphia, the longtime director of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality who currently sits on the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission, and Larry Wilson, who also served many years with ADEQ. The Larry Wilson Scholarship is sponsored by the Northstar Engineering Consultants, Inc., a longtime member of the Arkansas Environmental Federation. All three scholarships are administered by the AEF.
Scholarship decisions will be in April. The scholarship awards will be made in two payments - half for fall 2008 and half for spring 2009.
The AEF would like to offer a special "Thank You!" to the Randall Mathis Scholarship for Environmental Studies 2007-2008 Endowment Fund Contributors. Their contributions make the scholarship possible and will help ensure it's future.
